Sermorelin is a synthetic analog of Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH) comprising the first 29 amino acids of the native hormone, the minimal sequence required to fully activate GHRH receptors on pituitary somatotroph cells. With a molecular weight of 3357.9 g/mol, it initiates intracellular signaling cascades leading to physiological, pulsatile GH release without significantly altering other pituitary hormones. It increases average GH secretion by 70-107% and IGF-1 levels by 28%, promoting anabolic effects like increased lean muscle mass, and demonstrates cardioprotective potential by reducing scar size and promoting angiogenesis in myocardial infarction models, as well as neuroprotective effects by activating GABA receptors to inhibit seizures.
