Vialox (Pentapeptide-3V) is a synthetic peptide inspired by snake venom neurotoxins that acts as a competitive antagonist of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction, preventing acetylcholine binding and muscle contraction through selective action on peripheral receptors. With a molecular weight of 495.58 g/mol, it reduces muscle contractions by 71% within one minute of exposure, leading to relaxation of facial muscles and reduction of expression wrinkles with twice-daily application eliminating wrinkles in 50% of test subjects and reducing skin roughness in 47% after 28 days. Its mechanism is distinct from SNARE-targeting peptides, offering a non-permanent approach to studying muscle relaxation and its effects on skin topography.
